The idea was to write a poem on non-existence. After much pondering, a black page – a representation of nothingness – is all I could come up with. Lazy? Obvious? Here’s a thought: “if non-being is nothingness, does it mean that being is everything? (What is everything?)”

Months later I found an uncanny connection with the fragments of Parmenides’ poem On Nature.

L’idea era scrivere una poesia sul “non-essere”. Dopo averci pensato un po’, sono giunto alla conclusione che non ci fossero parole per esprimerlo: di qui la pagina nera. Pigrizia? Ovvietà? Un pensiero: “se il non-essere è il nulla, vuol dire che essere è tutto? (Cos’è tutto?)”

Qualche mese dopo ho trovato un riscontro interessante nei frammenti del poema Sulla Natura di Parmenide.
